Series: Busy Student Retreat (opening session)
This retreat began many years ago through a partnership between Viterbo Campus Ministry and the FSC; in recent years, we have partnered with UW-L Common Ground Campus ministry as well. The heart of this retreat is four one-hour, individual sessions with a spiritual director. Students also will have access to daily devotions, as they take this inward pilgrimage to better understand themselves and the presence of God their lives. Spiritual directors are curious and compassionate, and they are eager to accompany students wherever they are on their journey. Meeting times with the directors are adaptable to students’ busy schedules – come to the initial lunch meeting to find out more!
Discovering Pilgrimage: Sacred Steps in a Crazy World.
Pilgrimage is a journey of faith and self-discovery where you…
-Guard time for daily steps on an inward journey
-Connect with the sacred
-Learn to trust God and yourself in new ways
Everyone’s journey will be different.
Much will be changed.
Pilgrimage is when you leave that which is comfortable behind for a time and you approach an edge, border or frontier, and enter the unknown. Then in this liminal space you learn to let God be your guide. Finally, your journey returns you home to community and the usual daily routine, yet somehow different.
The retreat begins at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, October 8, with lunch and orientation to the time of pilgrimage. There you will get your “traveling materials” and meet your spiritual director. During the two-week journey, you will meet with your spiritual director four times. You also will receive daily reflections via email to guide you along the way. The retreat then closes at 5 p.m. Sunday, October 22, with time for reflection, ice cream and a closing blessing.
Start/End time: 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm
